FAMILY: A great hike up the Lake Louisa trail system. The boys were troopers up a steep climb for the first hour. First time playing Uno and a first putting together some ciruits with Dylan in his new kit! Rounded out with some swimming and hiking at Lake Minnewoska! FITNESS: 7 mile run across the Walkway Over the Hudson. MUSIC: 30 minutes of guitar practice. CAREER: Some booking confirmations for the October Spoke tour to Europe, which is finally starting to fill up nicely.
Thursday, July 16th
FAMILY: Dylan's official birthday! Celebrated with a trip to Storm King with our friend Jen Rutner. A magical place for people of any age. Swimming in the New Paltz pool and roasting marshmallows in the backyard firepit (a first!). FITNESS: Laps at the pool. Of all the excersize in my life, I find lap-swimming the most challenging and exhausting. I'd like to make it a goal this year to have it feel more do-able.
Wednesday, July 15th
FAMILY: Dylan ran his first mile without stopping! We did a nice easy pace together which he kept up doing a patented skip/walk combination. He was thrilled to do this! More swimming at the Kingston waterhole followed by a trip out on our local friend's new motor boat! Dinner and drinks boating up the Hudson with the families. Not bad! A lot of firsts for the kids. FITNESS: 2.25 miles of speed traing - fartleks. MUSIC: 30 minutes of guitar practice and work on Billy in the Lo

FAMILY: Hike along the Hudson at an old Greco-revival estate called Mills Mansion near Hyde Park. THe whole family climbed a tree! Both boys doing an great job keeping up hiking for 2 hours at a time. It's a whole new era! FITNESS: 30 minutes yoga - Ashtanga Primary Series.
Monday, July 13
FAMILY: Hike in Kingston at Oreata Lake followed by a find of an incredible water hole for the kids. Dylan and Finn both swam across the lake (.25 mile maybe) under their own steam (with some serious bouyancy aid from their 'floaties' and moral support from me). FITNESS: 7 mile run through the country hills. MUSIC: Checking out some Tchaikovskly and Arvo Part on the great classical station up here (which despite some adventurous programming seems contractually obligated to pl

FAMILY: Drove up to New Paltz for our week up here in the woods with the boys! MUSIC: 30 min of guitar practice in the morning + a lesson Josh Mason. FITNESS: 5 mile run on the country roads (and hills!).
Saturday July 11
FAMILY: Dylan's 6th birthday! An incredible day of partying in Prospect Park by the Carousel with Dylan's best friends. FITNESS: 30 minutes at home before all the festivities began MUSIC: Learned a bit of Billy in Lowground from Tony Rice.
Friday, July 10
FAMILY: Big prep for Dylan's 6th Birthday tomorrow! Two watermelons and the makings for an armada of red velvet cupcakes. Also, Dylan saw his first 'movie with friends' today at one of his best friend's birthday party. The went to see Inside Out in the theater. I saw it with him last week and it made me cry.... damn Pixar!! I'm hoping he'll learn something by seeing it twice. MUSIC: Had a really fun session with Gene Segall for his new electric project. Thursday, July 9
CAREER: Had a great interview with NY Arts for a teaching position in the fall. It's an incredible organization and I loved the director. I hope it works out! Fingers crossed. I'll know in about 3 week. MUSIC: Played a fun gig with singer Vicki Natale at Tavern on the Green. She has and incredible voice. Meerkat is here in a big way. I think that we had four people streaming the gig at different times. FITNESS: 30 minutes of bodyweight training at home.

FAMILY: Today Laurie and I drove down with her sister Tamar to Philadelpia to attend the funeral of her grandfather, Harry. He was 95 years old. His service was an incredible testament that it is never too late to make a difference. In the last 10 years of his life he hosted a Chadean refugee, joined the peace movement (including attending weekly vigils and a march in Washington), learned to use a computer through weekly lessons, went on solo hiking trips, seems to have meani
